On May 14, John Bradford, Vice President of the Colorado School of Mines in the United States, visited the China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUP) for an exchange. Vice President Zhang Guangqing met with the delegation, and relevant officials of the International Office attended the meeting.

Zhang Guangqing welcomed the visit of the delegation from the Colorado School of Mines, introduced the educational strength of CUP, subject setting, and internationalization efforts, He expressed that CUP is willing to further strengthen exchanges and promote cooperation between the two universities in training energy professionals. John Bradford highlighted the recent developments at the Colorado School of Mines and the international initiatives, expressing hope that the two sides will continue to promote cooperation in the fields of scientific research and talent training. The two sides also discussed the long and short-term projects, including the summer (winter) camp programs in China. 

Subsequently, Zhang Guangqing and John Bradford signed an inter-university cooperation memorandum on behalf of both institutions. This memorandum aims to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two universities in the fields of scientific research, talent training, and collaborative innovation.

Following the meeting, John Bradford and his delegation visited the history museum and Seabreeze Forums of CUP. Additionally, he gave a lecture titled "Geophysics in Energy Transition: Opportunities for the Next 50 Years."

Colorado School of Mines is a leading public research university in the United States, featuring programs such as engineering, natural resources, environmental protection, computer and information science, mathematics, etc. The university boasts a global reputation as one of the foremost research institutions in resource development, exploitation, and utilization.
